Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who is committed to making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and helping them to overcome barriers they face within education?

This challenging yet rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant starting as soon as possible within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in East Manchester.

About the Role:
This SEN Teaching Assistant position will involve supporting secondary aged children in a PRU that often display challenging behaviour. You will be required to work at various sites assisting class teachers and supporting students on a one to one basis and in small groups across a range of lessons, as well as getting involved with extra-curricular activities. To be successful you will need to encourage pupils to engage using a flexible approach and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour whilst maintaining calm is essential.

About the school:
This relatively new PRU caters for around 100 students aged 11 to 16 that are unable to access mainstream education, have been excluded or have social emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. This alternative provision aims to reintegrate pupils back into education while also helping them to develop and achieve success by providing a broad curriculum, qualifications and life skills in a nurturing environment.

*Have a flexible and patient approach when working with young people
*Build and develop positive relationships with both school staff and students
*Strong behaviour management, with a calm but firm attitude
