For this role, you must be an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who has a track record of implementing successful behavioural and learning strategies. At the heart of the role, you must be passionate in making a different to lives of those students who have complex learning needs. The SEN Teaching Assistant will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and any form of non-verbal communication such as Makaton will be highly favourable. You will be experienced and able to handle challenging behaviour, whilst continuously upholding a fun and creative persona.
The most important responsibility of the SEN Teaching Assistant is to always maintain and create a safe, positive learning environment for the pupils. You will be expected to prepare learning materials when needed and help the teacher create a stimulating classroom. More specifically, the SEN Teaching Assistant will work with a range of pupils whose specific needs differ in severity. They will take children out for 1:1 or small group sessions to teach them in a focused environment. It is important in this role that the SEN Teaching Experience takes care of the physical and emotional well-being of the child.
