The school is a well-managed, well established school providing an education to both primary and secondary aged students with Autism and a range of other needs.
The Headteacher has an ever evolving approach to Autism and what is required of a teacher at the school, a combination of research proven autism-specific strategies, systems and techniques, incorporating individualised learner education plans. These systems and techniques provide a clear focus on improving communication and interaction skills through identifying learner's strengths in areas of special interest.
Together the team deliver a positive reinforcement and celebration of achievement is embedded in the school's culture and includes individually meaningful and high value reward systems that motivate our pupils to participate in activities, helping them to take responsibility for their own learning.
The ideal candidate will have a PGCE in Primary Education and 1 / 2 years' experience in an SEN setting specifically working with students with Autism and Complex needs.
As per many SEN schools they have a range of teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language, Physio and Occupational Therapists and they integrate these therapies within the curriculum and throughout the school day.
As an SEN teacher you will be required to assess and produce an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for each child and is to be reviewed by the school team and parents every three weeks. The EHCP aims to nurture and address these requirements, along with targets for improvement.

*You will be teaching a Primary level
*Someone with a Secondary and ASD background would be fantastic
*Class sizes are 7 - 8
*There will be 3 /4 - lessons per day
*5 Teaching assistants in each class
The Teacher will have:
*A genuine passion for teaching

*Previous Experience in a Teaching post - ideally Primary
*Ability to contribute to the forward-thinking ethos of the school
*An optimistic outlook and the skill to encourage students
*Ability to tap into a student's imagination and expand upon sensory tools

*Teaching National Curriculum subjects, which may have been adapted to pupils' needs
*Helping pupils to develop their confidence, independence, abilities and attitudes
*Preparing lessons and teaching materials
*Marking and assessing work
*Experience in a similar environment already
*Working to specific EHCPs which will be updated / reviewed triweekly.
*Working with other professionals, such as medical professionals, speech and language therapists and Educational psychologists
