SEN Teacher required, West Sussex, Competitive pay
Your new school
Hays Education are working in partnership with schools in West Sussex and are looking to recruit SEN Teachers to join their expanding staff teams. Your new school would be supporting children with Autism, ADHD, EBD, Attachment Disorder, Dyslexia, SPLD, Global Delay, and other additional needs. The school is innovative in it's approach to education and overcoming barriers to learning, providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for students.
Your new role
Working closely with other staff members, you will be a classroom teacher to a small class of pupils. You will plan and prepare a suitable curriculum, in line with the schools learning policies. You will adapt the curriculum as necessary, allowing students to work towards ASDAN qualifications or GCSEs where appropriate. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists, OTs and care workers to offer a thorough and holistic education to students. You will also manage the Teaching Assistants in your class and together with them maintain a flexible approach to your classroom management, adapting to any needs that may arise during the day.
What you'll need to succeed
For this role you will need to hold Qualified Teacher Status and have recent and relevant experience of working with children who have learning difficulties in an educational environment. You will have exemplary behavioural management skills and be able to prevent the escalation of any challenging behaviour. You will be an exceptional communicator and be able to utilise this within the classroom with students, but also with colleagues, parents and carers. You will be a creative and flexible individual who has an innovative approach to education, whilst being highly organised with your work load. You will be experienced at planning suitable lessons for mixed ability groups, monitoring and assessing students learning. Crucially you will be able to quickly build rapport with students and develop good working relationships.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a competitive salary based on your previous experience and the ongoing support of a specialist SEN Educational Consultant. Alongside this you will receive free up to date safeguarding training and if you successfully refer any other educational professional to Hays, you will receive £250 of high street vouchers. *terms and conditions apply.*
