The School provides flexible specialist education and residential care for children and young people aged 8-19 years old with communication and associated difficulties. Students may be on the autistic spectrum, have Asperger’s Syndrome or other difficulties that impact their emotional health and well being and create barriers to learning.
The school has had significant investment which has included two new classroom buildings, new sensory room, a refresh of all the indoor and outdoor facilities and two new offsite children’s homes in Bristol.
Ultimately, our focus is to provide great outcomes for the people we support and to empower them to achieve their goals.

The Role:
As part of our next phase of development we are seeking an equally passionate and committed individual to join our education team.
We are looking for a SEN Teacher with experience in core subjects with additional subject experience but we are also happy to except applications from candidates with similar experience in the SEN Teaching network. The candidate will be responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to them, having responsibility for their progress, welfare and outcomes. Supervise the work of any support staff, who are assigned to work with their pupils.

Key Accountabilities:
To have an up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work. To take responsibility for implementing school policies and practice, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Provide leadership across the school in a designated subject or curriculum area, this to include:
• monitoring quality and standards
• contributing to school planning and self-evaluation
• providing professional support to other teachers and support staff
• advising the Head of Education on appropriate resources and materials
• leading appropriate professional development.
• to implement the aims of the school.

Qualifications:

• PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.

Experience:
• Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with autism.
