Prospero Teaching is working with an Ofsted rated 'Good' Primary school.
We are looking for a Primary ASD Teacher to teach class of students who are on the Autistic spectrum. The students are a combination of low functioning and high functioning individuals.
All the students have a statement of special educational needs and most have had significantly disrupted previous schooling. No students are looked after children. All the students are placed at the school by their local authority.
The School provides a centre of excellence in education and development for children aged between 5 and 12 years of age who have been diagnosed with an autistic spectrum condition (ASC)
The School will strive to provide effective specialist education and support to pupils on the Autistic Spectrum and to their families, enabling pupils to achieve their full potential in education and in life outside school.
Teachers with a background in mainstream teaching as well as overseas teachers are welcome to apply, but experience in SEN, particularly ASD is preferred.
The role of the Primary ASD Teacher is:
*To establish a purposeful learning environment
*To adapt the syllabus according to the individual students' EHCP
*Be active and innovative in their teaching and learning styles, both inside and outside the classroom
*To ensure the welfare and comfort of the students is maintained at all times
*To make appropriate use of a range of monitoring and assessment strategies to evaluate pupils progress
*Demonstrate commitment to professional development and learning and development of pupils
The successful Primary ASD Teacher must:
*Have QTS or equivalent
*Have experience working with students statemented for autism and students with ASD
*Have experience teaching students in Key Stage 1 and 2
*Have good organisational skills with high expectations of achievement and behaviour
*Have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents and students
*Be flexible and open minded
