A mainstream primary school in Wantage is seeking a dedicated SEN Classroom Mentor to join their team, following a sharp rise in the rate of SEN diagnoses. With the number of students requiring additional support continuing to increase, the school is expanding its provision for children with special educational needs and complex requirements.
The SEN Classroom Mentor will support students, aged 3 to 11, both 1:1 and in small groups. The children have diverse needs, including Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, behavioral challenges, sensory issues, physical disabilities, and communication difficulties. The role involves working closely with the SENCo and teachers to address individual learning goals, while providing essential academic and emotional support to help students thrive in the classroom environment.
The primary school in Wantage offers fantastic facilities, including spacious classrooms, outdoor play areas, and a well-equipped sports hall. The staff is friendly and supportive, eager to welcome a positive and enthusiastic SEN Classroom Mentor to their community.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and compassionate
- Positive and energetic, able to uplift the classroom atmosphere
- Experience with children, especially those with SEN, is beneficial but not essential
- Ideal for recent graduates interested in education, psychology, or mental health
Position Details:
- Role:SEN Classroom Mentor
- Location:Wantage area
- Pay: £83.50 to £90 per day
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
- Start Date: After October half-term
