Security Team Leader - St Georges Shopping Centre
Purpose of the Role
The role of the Security Team Leader is to Supervise the on shift security team to ensure the overall smooth running of the centre and supporting the Soft Services Manager, Ops Manager and Centre Management in ensuring that the Centre is a safe and pleasant environment for our customers at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of security and customer care provision.
- Supporting the Soft Services Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Centre’s security function.
- Ensure Security Officer and Control Room Operatives are performing their duties to the appropriate standard.
- Provide feedback on the performance of Security Officers to the Soft Services Manager and Centre Management.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and training for Security Officers, advising them of how to improve their performance where required.
- Report any significant security incidents, to the relevant Manager and assist in ensuring a full investigation has been completed to establish all facts.
- Support Centre Management through encouraging communication among tenant security providers.
- Ensure all aspects of routine health and safety checks are followed, in particular those identified within the personnel and procedures manual.
- Co-ordinate the evacuation of the Centre in an emergency in accordance with the Centre’s evacuation plan.
- Support the implementation of specific security plans for events and the attendance of any VIP’s to the Centre.
- Reporting any maintenance or health and safety issues to the relevant manager.
- Ensure close liaison with the local Police and encourage communication amongst tenant security providers.
- In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security License and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance License.
- The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
- Ensuring rosters are up to date with Absences and Overtime.
- To undertake other duties i.e. helping the cleaning team in some areas.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in the provision of security services in a busy Shopping centre environment.
- Be able to demonstrate previous experience in working as a supervisor/manager role with in a busy Shopping centre.
- In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence and a Public Space Surveillance Licence.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent levels of customer service at all times and be able to communicate well at all levels.
- Ability to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations.
- Honest and reliable work ethic.
- Willingness to partake in on-site training for emergency procedures.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to work patterns and work weekends/evenings as and when required.
- Willingness to undertake additional training and career development.
- Well presented at all times.
- Accurate record keeping with good attention to detail.
- Able to meet the requirements of BS7858 – Security vetting.
Required
- Valid SIA Security/DS License.
- Valid SIA CCTV license.
Desirable
- Operational experience within a Shopping Centre.
- Ability to use full range of Microsoft applications inc. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of H&S legislation. IOSH Qualification.
- Fire Marshall training.
- First Aid At Work.
- Disciplinary and Investigation training.
Working Hours - 42 hours/week - 4 on 4 off rolling roster
Salary - £ 12.52 + 50p per hour performance and attendance bonus
