A vacancy for an Secure Communications pre-sales Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Newport.

The Pre-Sales function is responsible for supporting the entire Sales and Business Development department in all pre-Sales activities to generate and deliver sales prospects. The pre-sales engineer would report into the Head of pre-sales.

This pre-sales engineering role will use their technical; knowledge and background along with sales skills to provide advice and support on the Airbus DS products to the sales force account managers. The role will assist and support colleagues in the preparation and tendering for new business by providing the technical input where required and appropriate.
A key element of the role is engagement with a wide variety of customers and potential customers promoting Airbus DS products, services and expertise; it will be a mobile role mainly based on UK but with may require occasional international travel
The responsibilities of the pre-sales engineer would include the following:
Pre-Sales Activities

1) Identify and capture customer's requirements.
2) Support bids and produce technical proposals which are tailored to the customer's requirements
3) Draw up systems level communication systems block diagrams or detailed drawings down to interfaces/connector level
4) Provide customer technical presentations and training on Airbus's capabilities and portfolio
5) Keep abreast with new developments in state-of-the-art technologies and to feed this back into the organisation by either briefing or training the Airbus team

Marketing Support Activities
1) Build up necessary tools to assist the sales process such as a service and network models and complementary technologies
2) To write technical or white papers describing Airbus's services and new platforms

Internal Resource Management Activities
1) Develop secure communications systems design and solutions that encompass Secure LAN/Wan design utilising PKI technologies; together IP telephony capabilities
2) To develop service models and solutions providing consultancy, implementation, operation and contact centre services.
3) Liaise with inter-departmental entities such as New Product Development, Service Delivery and Network Engineering to ensure smooth delivery of new services

To technically advocate the prospect internally with the Engineering departments and to ensure that the prospect passes the PDR/bid review process.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Seeked profile:

Degree qualified in an engineering or communications discipline
Must be able to present to clients either in a supporting role to sales staff or directly
Strong attention to detail - a completer-finisher

Previous knowledge of the design and delivery of Secure LAN/Wan solutions is essential

Knowledge of PKI technologies and security architectures, would be of value

Must have experience writing complex technical proposals

Experienced in a communications engineering role, specialising in secure network communications and network analysis and design

Experienced within a similar pre-sales role/ environment
