Science Technician – Full-Time, Term Time Only

Reading Area | £21,566 per annum (NJC Point 4)

37 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Term time + 5 INSET days | Start Date: ASAP

A successful and oversubscribed secondary school in the Reading area is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Science Technician to join their dedicated team.

About the Role:

The Science Technician will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education by coordinating the use of practical resources and facilities. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is committed to supporting both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical science lessons
  • Maintain and organise laboratory resources and stock
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and safe practical sessions
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the science department

  • Awareness of health and safety procedures in science education
  • Knowledge of CLEAPSS and/or COSHH regulations (desirable)
