Seating Technician (Healthcare)

An opportunity has now arisen for a Seating Technician to join our special seating department with our factory based in Bradford.

This is an exciting role for either a new trainee in the manufacture and assembly of special seating who is looking to further their career in a growing department where up to date technology has been used to assist in the clinical aspect but also in the manufacturing you will be involved in. It is also a role suited to an experienced seating technician wishing to join a successful seating team and further their career.

You will have full support in training to aid your knowledge, skills and personal development within the role. You will learn how to manufacture and assemble the full range of seating options in this specialised field.

This role would suit an individual who has experience in general manufacturing and assembly. You will have some experience with the use of hand tools and varying machinery involved in manufacture such as band saws and jigsaws as well as power and manual hand tools.

Some of the duties will involve:

  • Manufacture of Bespoke Foam carved seating systems to specification

  • Manufacture of custom made parts from engineering sheets.

  • Assembly of the wheelchair bases and parts to a specification

  • Using hand tools to assemble parts

  • Trimming seating with band saws

  • Work to high standards following quality procedures

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Confidence in using hand tools in typical workshop

  • Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use tools safely and effectively.

  • Effective organisational, time management and planning skills.

  • Good interpersonal and verbal skills for communicating with others.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member

  • Ability to follow instructions on specifications and work to your own initiative

  • Be able to meet deadlines for deliveries

  • Organised, pro-active and efficient

  • High standard of workmanship to maintain and enhance quality

  • Flexible in your approach to work

    The team you will work with will be:

  • Special seating team

  • Clinical Assessment team

  • CAD team

  • Customer services

The nature of the role is varied and can be fast paced so the successful candidate will maintain high standards when working to varying deadlines and specifications. This is a permanent position and as standard the core working hours are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. In return, we offer a competitive salary package, 25 days of holiday (plus statutory) and free parking.
