Search Engine Optimisation SEO Manager

Travelopia is the third largest tour operator in the UK, with 300k+ customers annually and a turnover of £300m+. Brands include Hayes & Jarvis, Moorings, Sunsail, LeBoat, Citalia, American Holidays, Sovereign and Austravel.

We are looking for an SEO Manager to be responsible for increasing visibility and engagement online. You will be responsible for daily management of search engine optimisation activities and use search engines to acquire, retain and convert our customer base and increase visitors across dedicated Travelopia Group brands.

The web channel is a strategically critical route to market and search engine optimisation is a key driver in Digital Marketing and significant to the web’s role as a driver of business success. You will be happy to work across both SEO and Content and you will manage one member of staff and supporting others as required. You will work closely with key stakeholders in the company to support projects and make sure their delivery is "SEO friendly".

What you will be doing:

1. Delivering search engine optimisation strategy according to agreed objectives

- Keyword research, analysis and selection on SHG sites and competitor keyword research

- Determining which keywords will pull in qualified traffic and analyse this

- Monitoring all brand sites for SERPs listings for agreed keywords using software

- Competitor analysis development and Optimising of meta data

- Identifying need of additional page and/or content creation and creation of new pages

- Linking analysis and development to include overall internal link structure

- Attending trading meetings and feeding back relevant information

- Deep crawl to assess problems on site and resolve them

- Providing solutions to complex onsite technical errors such as - Server Errors, 404 Status code errors, Redirect and Canonical errors, Robots file commands, Website Migration

- Training for staff members whom operate at a high level, but require technical assistance

- Working and managing small to large scale content marketing campaigns, assembling a team from each relevant department to start the process in house

2. Monitoring and reporting

- Regular tracking and reporting on weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis on agreed KPIs using search engine tools, Search Metrics, GSC, web analytics, Deep Crawl, Link Research Tools

- Measuring and analysing SEO activities and performance

- Maintaining records of performance and document implementations to analyse outcome

- Meeting with Head of SEO at least once a week to discuss strategy + workloads

- Collating strategies alongside the Head, with Forecasts to demonstrate how to grow the business

3. Being Innovative

- Identifying new areas for online development from which the business would benefit

- Contributing to knowledge sharing activities amongst the online team and wider business (e.g. blog contributions, company presentations etc.)

- Keeping up to date with new developments and new search engine behaviours, social media and digital marketing, and actively researching, testing and proposing new approaches

- Producing ideas for new initiatives based on your keyword research data with an estimation of the likely impact to enable prioritisation of the work

4. Efficiency

- Making effective use of web analytics, attribution and path to conversion tools as well as search engine, social media, individual advertising supplier tools

- Recognising and recommending on opportunity for automating processes

- Continuously improving SEO processes to ensure work is delivered efficiently and timely

- Helping to improve processes in house in order to achieve delivery of work in a reasonable time

- Producing regular audits of the performance of the website making recommendations using your SEO skills / knowledge to grow traffic to the sites

What we are looking for:

- At least 4 years’ experience within SEO and a willingness to also work on content

- Good research knowledge regarding keywords, link analysis, and search engine results, new search engine behaviours, in-depth competition analysis etc.

- Excellent communication and writing skills and an ability to create content on a regular basis

- Be content to work alone, be organised and relay information back to the team

- Willingness to take part in training with other team members and actively share knowledge

- Good knowledge of HTML and Technical related tasks - using systems like Screaming Frog

- Ability to pinpoint problems on site with only a brief overview

- An advanced level of technical skills with an ability to identify coding problems and errors that might impact the visibility or ability to index pages across the sites

- Good analytical and reporting skills
