An opportunity has arisen to join our highly motivated School Nursing Team in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust as a Band 5 Public Health Staff Nurse. Staff will be based in Northumberland. The post holder will be supervised by a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse to provide a wide range of health related services within the school and home settings.
This role aims to enable children and young people to make decisions around their health and lifestyle. The post holders will work in collaboration to ensure the provision of high quality; evidence based practice and will contribute to the Public Health Agenda, delivering on national and local health improvement targets. The post holders will support the provision of core programmes of screening, health promoting activities and the delivery of Sex and Relationship Education. There is an expectation to talk to large groups of young people in assemblies and in classes so experience and confidence to deliver presentations is desirable.
The role involves attendance at multi agency conferences and contributing to the decision making involved in the safeguarding of vulnerable young people. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication and organisational skills. They will be good team players but be able to work independently.
The post offers the successful candidate an opportunity to develop their professional knowledge and skills within a number of interesting and diverse settings. If successful you must have the ability to work quickly, accurately and flexibly due to the fast pace of the demands within the role.
- Registration on part one or three of the NMC register
- Newly qualified staff will be required to undertake the Trust preceptorship
programme within the first year in post. Registered Mentor. Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (essential requirement for
post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period)
