Sales Manager

Applicants are invited to apply for the Sales Manager vacancy within the Commercial Department, targeting sales for our Port of Sheerness. Travel will be required in this role.

Role Purpose: To achieve target headline sales, the EBITDA budget and deliver top line growth from new and existing markets and customers. To develop and deliver new revenue opportunities in line with Peel Ports Group strategic plan.

The Sales Manager role will include the following responsibilities:

-Identify, prioritise, pursue and successfully convert port cluster opportunities from targeted markets, both new and existing, allowing the delivery of new revenue

-Maximise all opportunities for growth from new and incumbent customers; negotiate contractual terms, pricing and SLA’s to secure new business

-Work with Commercial and Operations teams to ensure operational performance KPI’s are available and meet customer’s expectations

-Ensure that CRM is populated as the primary source of information, and kept up to date at all times

-In conjunction with the Contracts Manager, ensure all on going opportunity for revenue generation is maximized through the application of the contract

-In conjunction with the Marketing Department, regularly update customers with news on existing and new value added services and line calls available from the port cluster

-Regularly meet with and present to Freight Forwarders, Cargo Owners, Agents and Shipping Lines to identify and maximise all opportunities

Applicants interested in the Sales Manager role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-Able to demonstrate significant experience of front line B2B sales, including cold calling

-Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, with proven experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with customers

-5 A*- C GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including Maths and English

-Knowledge and experience of supply change management

-Previous experience of selling services and upselling at mid to senior management levels with customers

-Able to multi-task and prioritise workload effectively, self motivate and demonstrate commitment to delivering the budget

-Successful track record in converting leads to sales

-A full valid Driving Licence is essential
