Internal Sales Executive


£25,000 - £35,000/annum

Package details
Compensation available upon request includes basic salary and bonus scheme.
Basic £25 28k plus comission
Ability to join the company pension scheme.
20 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays.

Standard (minimum) hours for sales staff are 9.00 to 17:45hrs with 1 hour for lunch. Monday to Friday inclusive.

The company
stocking distributor of a wide range of products for use in computer networks, telecommunications and security systems. Products include Data Centres, fibre optic cables, CAT5e/CAT6 cables, voice cables, connectors, enclosures, cabinets, trunking systems, tools, test equipment, splicing equipment, Ethernet networking equipment, wireless LAN products, and CCTV/access control products.

Role summary
A professional sales role, internally based with occasional face to face customer visits. Technical knowledge is not essential to communicate effectively with customers. Target driven with sales budgets and supporting activity, including quality and quantity of orders/calls. Necessity to follow procedural requirements including ERP system (Lakeview) and paper based processes.

Part of Sale Representative role will be active participation in prospecting and developing new accounts, generating sales quotes, and handling customer inquiries to help service customers and grow the business. There will also be cold and warm calls for new market initiatives while developing technical knowledge about data communication products and vendors. The role will be highly engaged in business development.

Key responsibilities
Develop a sound knowledge of our products, vertical markets and customers with a view to selling our products.
Maintain and develop close relationships with customers and a knowledge of their business requirements with a view to selling our products.
Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing and new customers.
Interpret customer requirements clearly and provide quotations accordingly.
Negotiate the best sales price to maximize profitability.
Progress quotations in a timely fashion with a view to winning orders.
Process customer orders and maintain customer files.
Checking customer order paperwork for accuracy, completeness and compatibility.
Maintain a database of customer and prospective customer contacts.
Expand our customer database by obtaining new customer contacts within existing customer accounts and new prospective customers.
Manage a sales area (defined geographically by postcode).
Increase levels of business within a defined geographical area to achieve sales and profitability targets.
Arrange customer visits for External Account Managers.
Visit customers when required.
Attend exhibition stands when required.
Support company marketing initiatives by discussing the marketing material with customers with a view to selling products.
Use company computer systems including MS Office and Lakeview (ERP System).
Liaise with purchasing and stores to ensure that deliveries meet customer expectations.
Conduct other tasks as instructed.
Delegate administrative and some pro-active tasks to Sales Administrators.
Measurement and performance through working to Key Performance Indicators, including Sales, Orders, Average Transaction Value, Conversion Rate and Call Volume.

Key attributes
Previous sales experience with a proven track record of achieving sales targets within a driven and pressurised sales environment.
Initiative to identify and develop new business opportunities.
Ability to learn about a wide range of technical products.

Must be committed to providing a high level of service to our customers.
Must respond to customers in a timely and courteous fashion.
Good organisational skills.
Ability to prioritise a heavy workload.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally using a telephone or face to face.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing using email and word processing (fax and letter).
Neat legible handwriting for handwritten notes.
Able to work as part of a dedicated team. The candidate will work as a member of a regional team consisting of an adjacent Account Manager, a Sales Administrator and an External Account Manager.
Good level of numeracy and literacy.
Basic computer literacy using email and MS Office (full training will be given on the company computer system Lakeview).
Job requires the use of a computer. Therefore the candidate must be able to use a keyboard and vdu monitor for prolonged periods.
Willingness to help out other departments when required.
The candidate must have an excellent command of spoken and written English.
The candidate may be required to service military, defence, and government customers. Candidates with conscientious, religious or political objections should consider this before applying for this position.

Attributes - desirable but not essential
Previous experience of selling fibre optic communication, structured cabling, or security (CCTV/alarms/access control) products. Experience of selling to similar technical markets such as electrical installation, electronics, building services may be useful.
Foreign languages.
Full UK car driving licence (preferably clean).

Progression Opportunities
To grow existing geographic sales area and increase bonus.
Develop to Account Manager, Key Account Manager, External Sales Manager or Technical Sales Manager.

Based at our Gatwick/Crawley distribution facility.

In house Training and Proficiency Testing after training
