Salaried GPs in Rural Practice

£81,229 to £91,564 per annum

Post 40 hours per week - permanent

An opportunity has arisen for a salaried GP to join our small, friendly primary healthcare team at Ballachulish Medical Practice.

The main practice building is in Ballachulish which also houses our main dispensary and the administration team. Our team has two GPs, a practice nurse, a part-time healthcare assistant and an experienced administrative and dispensing team working under the practice manager. We are supported by an excellent district nursing team and also have close links with social work, Macmillan nursing, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the wider healthcare network in Fort William and across NHS Highland.

The practice is open 8am until 6pm, with no out of hours commitment. Routine appointments are 20 minutes. We are about half an hour from the consultant led Belford hospital in Fort William which also hosts the allied health professionals and a variety of consultant led clinics. In view of the remote location there is a requirement to provide some emergency care when this is required. BASICs training is required, but can be arranged if necessary and the post does require considerable travelling.

Becoming part of this innovative and forward-thinking practice will offer the exciting opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary way, involving primary care, social care, emergency services and third sector services and to tailor provision of healthcare to the unique location. The practice covers a variety of beautiful locations across Lochaber offer a huge range of outdoor sporting activities, dining options and cultural events. There are excellent primary schools in Ballachulish, Glencoe and Kinlochleven.
