An exciting opportunity has arisen for my client who are currently looking to employ a Safety Officer with experience within the construction industry, based in Peterborough. The purpose of this role is to ensure the Company’s health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and systems are followed by regular inspections and auditing. To be responsible for the provision and organisation of health and safety related training. To ensure that the Company takes all reasonable measures to provide a safe working environment for its employees, the general public, contractors and visitors.

Key duties for this role include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring Company compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation
- To ensure management and other employees adhere to the above
- To promote, develop and maintain a Companywide health, safety and environmental culture
- Carry out Health & safety induction training for all new employees
- To maintain health, safety and environmental records
- To monitor the working environment and to establish and advise on necessary controls.
- To provide information on accident frequencies and trends as required by site and Company policies, utilising HS1 accident investigation system, including property damage, near misses and transport/vehicle damage statistics
- To ensure accidents are fully investigated and to be responsible for ensuring preventative measures are implemented to prevent re-occurrence
- To inspect all operations to monitor adherence to safe working procedures
- To assist and advise site management on the identification of hazards; assessment of risks and creation and implementation of risk control measures
- To investigate and report on all accidents/incidents as appropriate
- To be responsible for ensuring that all registers, records and documentation for health and safety are maintained
- Create and review of RAMs

Skills Required
- CCNSG Safety Passport – (Not Essential)
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent – (NEBOSH Construction an advantage)
- Membership of IOSH – (Not Essential)
- Team working skills
- Able to work under pressure and deliver results to a defined deadline
- Can-do attitude, self-motivated
- Flexible
- Attention to detail
- Confident
- Good communication skills
