Our client is a global player within the Logistics/Supply chain and Freight forwarding industry, providing global and integrated management and optimisation of the logistics chain for its customers worldwide.
We are now recruiting for a Safety, Health and Environmental Manager based at the South Manchester office but will involve travel to other offices when necessary.
Your role will involve advice and guidance on best practice as well as practical guidance to all managers on SHE requirements and stakeholder / legislative compliance. You will play a proactive role and work closely with the Commercial team in offering guidance on SHE implications for new business opportunities or changes to current business profiles
Prevention of Work Related Accidents and Illnesses also form part of your role. You will analyse statistics relating to work-related accidents and illnesses and promote the process which identifies and assesses occupational risks.
Working with the nationwide sites giving guidance on risk assessments/ aspect and impacts and enduring these are regularly updated and action plans are carried out. Assist the local managers with incident investigations, ensuring any actions points arising from investigations are followed up and actioned.
As well as working with the sites regarding health and safety audits, present the conclusions of audits with practical recommendations for the action plans. Project manage to SHE workshops which monitor action plan compliance.
Working with the HR team identify/develop and (where appropriate) deliver training for managers and employees. Develop and ensure delivery of a SHE toolbox training program to all supervisory management. Ensure new legislation/policies are communicated with guidance for managers
In order to apply for this role you will have a high level of experience in a health and safety role with tangible responsibility and accountability for SHE matters
You will be autonomous and take initiative in regards to all processes, policies, rules, recommendations, and internal and externals methods. The ability to devise and imagine new solutions for systems, concepts and/or standards
You will have the ability to formalise and plan all of the actions to be carried out for the proper achievement of a project, in respect of the allocated resources and in coordination with the different contacts. Ability to mobilise, communicate, train and assist the managers and various people involved to ensure management of change.
