Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme

Entry Requirements: Minimum 5 GCSE’s A*-C including Science, Mathematics and English
Salary: A starting salary of £13,500 rising to £24,500 in year 4
Scheme Length: 4 years
Locations: Aberthaw, Didcot, Little Barford, Great Yarmouth.

Programme Overview

RWE Generation is dedicated to the development of highly skilled people and providing exciting career opportunities within its  portfolio of power generation sites.

The RWE Generation UK Apprentice Programme is a Trailblazer apprenticeship scheme lasting 4 years, in which you will gain a sound understanding of the technical and practical skills required to be one of our highly skilled craft specialists of the future. You will undertake a programme of training and development at some of the UK’s leading power generation plants and at RWE Generation UK’s dedicated Training Academy at Ferrybridge in Yorkshire where you will benefit from the support of experienced power industry  professionals and training specialists.

Programme Outline

For the first 2 years of the 4 year programme you will be studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Engineering Operations , which will be supplemented with a range of practical skills training held at our training facility. All accommodation and expenses whilst at College or Training Academy will be provided by RWE Generation UK. Following your BTEC National Certificate you will move on to your specialist area in your 3rd and 4th years.

Years 1 and 2
> Block release Level 3 Diploma at a college
> PEO Performing Engineering Operations at college
>Technical Skills course at Ferrybridge Training Academy

Years 3 and 4
You will spend the majority of your time at one of RWE Generation UK Power Stations developing competencies in your chosen specialism together with further technical skills training at Ferrybridge Training Academy.

On successful completion of the scheme you will have the skills and qualifications to apply to be a craftsperson at one of our power stations in their specialist maintenance teams. You may have the opportunity to develop further and work towards a Higher National Certificate.
