Risk & Compliance Officer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Risk and Compliance Officer to join our FMCG family, a diverse, driven and dynamic company that holds a rich and prestigious production heritage within the food and drink industry. To this day, the business continue to produce products of the highest quality for customers around the world.

The main purpose for the Risk and Compliance Officer will be to ensure the control and compliance framework is maintained for all UK companies and to ensure compliance with the UK Excise regulations. To meet all on-going reporting requirements for Excise with the relevant authorities and internally as required.


*Completion and submission of all periodic Excise returns with the relevant authorities (to include but not limited to monthly W1 return and fortnightly W5D return)
*Ownership and renewal for all company excise licenses
*Maintenance of excise documentation and records to support Company activity
*Oversee, manage and audit the due diligence Customer/Supplier on-boarding process to ensure compliance with *HMRC guidelines is maintained.
*Delivery of training into the business on excise compliance related matters
*Ensure all Products are set up within Tropos to reflect the correct tax status and for accurate reporting thereafter
*Oversee all movements against the relevant Company excise movement guarantee and ensure the process and adherence to policy is maintained
*Manage the financial exposure on all Company excise movement guarantees and arrange, as necessary for limits to be increased or security/cash provided as required by HMRC to ensure Company adherence to agreed limits
*Liaison with HMRC on any excise related matters, acting as point of contact for all correspondence
*Proactive investigation and satisfactory resolution of any excise related issues within the business, including Spirit losses. *Management and control over issuing of free standing duty stamps to the business
*To liaise with relevant bodies regarding any Duty Changes & roll out into the business of new processes, documentation and training to support any such legislation changes
*Monthly EC Sales List & Intrastat reporting to HMRC


To be considered, you will have demonstrable experience in managing and processing of Excise duty related activities We are looking for a trustworthy person, with strong attention to detail, as well as sound judgement and the ability to analyse situations and information rationally. Working in fast-growing company in the food & drink industry can be very demanding at times so you must be able to thrive in fast-paced environment.
Experience in Technical Administration could be considered.
