Ride & Handling Engineer - Nissan Technical Centre Europe

Randstad Sourceright are pleased to be working with Nissan Technical Centre Europe to look for a bright & enthusiastic Engineer to join the Ride & Handling team. You don't need to have worked in Ride & Handling before; you simply need to be educated to degree level and have gained some exposure to automotive engineering post-graduation.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

The development of vehicle riding comfort and handling, and chassis system components, to set and deliver project targets from Handover/concept to end of life.

Management of vehicle performance achievement and test progress to meet project requirements.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ride and Handling performance planning, engineering approval, and release of Chassis system components/specifications.

  • Target setting for specific vehicle systems to achieve Ride and Handling performance requirements.

  • Confirmation of vehicle target achievements with related departments in the European and global Nissan organisation.

  • Management of suppliers to complete development of new models, validation of component performance, and achievement of cost targets.

  • Implementation of technical cost reductions, and the provision of technical support to the purchasing organisation for commercial negotiations.

  • Improve quality of current production models.

  • Support Nissan/Alliance manufacturing plants.

Background & Experience

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following experience in the Automotive Industry, you will also have the following education and experience:

  • Degree qualified in a related subject

  • Strong, proven Mechanical engineering background and Vehicle Dynamic performance engineering experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in global cross functional cross cultural environment.

  • Team player, with ability to motivate and guide colleagues toward timely delivery against objectives.

  • Ability to act on own initiative, work to deadlines, and keep commitments

  • Proven ability of technical problem solving.

  • Practical experience of vehicle architecture and systems.

  • Experience of managing suppliers in a project environment.

  • Fluent English verbal and written language skills essential.

Additionally the following knowledge or experience is highly beneficial

  • Detailed 1st principles mechanical engineering capability.

  • Practical Vehicle dynamic engineering capability, or good knowledge.

  • Electronic / Software / Mechatronic damper development experience

  • Problem solving skill using logical process (Problem Analysis, FTA, FMEA)
