Retail Store Manager in Training
£18,000 + Store & Company Bonus & Benefits
Established for over 100 years this High Street fashion based retailer has managed to combine all the benefits of being a financially stable dependable business offering both security and structure with plenty of future development and career opportunities provided through a carefully planned and costed expansion plan. It’s managed to do both by being true to its core values of offering great product in a customer friendly environment, by living its mission statement and, most importantly, by empowering and inspiring its store teams. As part of continued growth throughout the UK they are now looking for a Store Manager in Training to be based in the Liverpool/Manchester area and to play a key part in the businesses short and medium term growth in the North West.
As Store Manager in Training you will join the business on their Store Management Training Program, a structured development path designed to grow your knowledge, skills and experience in all aspects of store management. Based in the Liverpool/Manchester area you will work through a bespoke course tailored to enhance your knowledge whilst serving in an operational support capacity within the store, applying your knowledge in real life situations and learning all aspects of the role through practical exposure. Working with the Store Manager you will take day to day responsibility for the site, planning rota’s and staff deployment, managing stock and availability while all the time offering great service and leading by example. You’ll work with a team of Supervisors and junior staff ensuring the store maintains good standards, is a fun and friendly place to shop and that sales are maximised through attractive displays and a commercial layout. You’ll also get the opportunity to work with stock, to manage deliveries effectively and replenish the store with your team. The role essentially gives you all the theoretical knowledge and practical experience needed to take on a store of your own in time.
The position will appeal to any retailer who wants security, reliability and structure. In a challenging retail environment, a business with a clear direction that is solid financially allows managers to focus on doing their job rather than worrying about how long it will last. Great training gives people certainty around how to operate, how to manage and how to be the best they can be. A challenging and fast moving role keeps managers engaged, challenged and constantly looking for ways to be better. The role is best suited to an aspirational individual with some experience supervising or managing within a retail business that wants to be both tested and supported, challenged but managed within a clear framework and rewarded for their efforts both through excellent store based incentives and clear a development program. Background wise, applicants can come from any high street retail business as long as it’s busy but still customer focussed. It really is less important what you do now, and more important that you are committed, hard-working and want more control over your career.
