Retail Manager

May Personnel Ltd are recruiting on behalf of a millinery boutique based in Surrey.

They are looking for a full-time retail manager to join the small team and you will be responsible for the day to day running of the shop floor, maximising sales and profits, merchandising and motivating and supporting the rest of the small team.

This unique role will suit an equally unique candidate, this role is retail with a twist and will suit those with a retail background wanting to take a more creative and personalised step in their career.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • High level of numeracy and basic IT skills
  • Minimum 2 years retail management preferably in women’s fashions, luxury retail and/or bespoke sales
  • A proven ability to work within a team
  • Previous experience managing people in a front-line retail environment
  • An understanding of effective team leadership
  • Customer-focused; experience of promoting excellent customer service
  • Experience of shop merchandising
  • Ability to promote and be responsible for Legal and Health and Safety legislation as they pertain to a retail environment
  • Ability to multi task and prioritise workload
  • Understanding of the ethos of the organisation and an ability to deal compassionately and sensitively with colleagues and customers
  • A natural eye for colour and style
  • Punctual at all times

You will be committed, chatty warm and confident with strong communication and creative skills with a passion for style and fashion.

The hours are Tuesday- Saturday, 09h15 to 17h45 with ½ hour lunch break

The successful applicant will be required to work a later start or earlier finish per week

The duties are as follows:

Effective running of the shop floor day to day

To manage and train team members

To work in a timely, organised and efficient manner

To ensure the shop floor and ancillary areas are always clean, tidy and well merchandised

Take control of merchandising the shop floor, ensure products are rotated and displays are fresh and interesting, including window display

To be welcoming and approachable to all customers

To best serve each customer’s needs, with a flexible attitude and using your own creative input to come up with the best solution and help style the customer

To be able to actively design and sell bespoke handmade products

To be able to actively promote customer appointments

Have fantastic product and service knowledge

Have an awareness of current trends on the high street

Keeping on top of stock levels for both merchandise and stationery/packaging

To pick up on key trends in store

Managing the diary and booking customer appointments

Managing customer’s expectations at all times including once an order is taken until collection

Keeping on top of admin tasks such as filing, emails, ordering, customer database

Checking in deliveries, ensuring correct stock has arrived, price and display

Health and Safety compliance and managing

Suggest and implement new systems to ensure smooth work flow between all team members and ensure other team members are aware of how they work

Build relationships with other businesses in relevant or complementary sectors to help expand our network

Use social media to promote every day going-ons Suggest marketing ideas and methods to increase footfall and take on marketing projects

Attend trade fairs when requested

Be presentable at all times

To actively up sell to clients additional design details or products

Attend a weekly meeting to discuss the forthcoming weeks activities

Attend a monthly meeting with the complete team out of opening hours
