Responsible Officer for PCH Construction Delivery

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board are embarking on a major refurbishment programme of Prince Charles Hospital (PCH) in Merthyr Tydfil. Having completed the main design and set out a programme for delivery we are looking to replace our technical construction lead (due to retirement) at a pivotal point in the delivery of the site wide physical improvements. Having commenced early phase works on site, the Health Board is planning (subject to Welsh Government Approval) to start the full major scheme elements of the programme later in the calendar year. This has a budget of circa £233 million with a planned duration of five and a half years.

In order to support the delivery of these works we are looking for an individual with exceptional technical construction management skills, established through major capital project delivery experience to support the SRO with the delivery of an extremely complex major hospital refurbishment scheme. Drawing on your background and professional skills you will take a lead role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of all construction aspects of the scheme, which will have a particular focus on strict financial / budgetary control and programme management. You will work alongside the existing Programme Director (Service) who will continue to support the programme for design management and service continuity on the live hospital site and be jointly responsible for producing the regular reporting to the SRO, the Board and Welsh Government on all aspects of Programme Management and delivery.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
