Respiratory Clinical Physiologist

Please only apply if you hold BSc in Healthcare Science (Respiratory) of BSc in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory).

The post that is being advertised is a band 5 full time (37.5hrs) 1 Saturday in 4 to be worked 08:30 – 14:00.

The department is looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and organised Respiratory Clinical Physiologist to join our friendly Cardio/Respiratory team. You will be expected to work as an effective team member and also as an independent professional.

The key skills needed are in Respiratory function testing performing spirometry, reversibility studies where indicated, gas transfer, and lung volumes using both helium dilution and body plethysmography.

It is a challenging and busy department dedicated to providing a professional and patient centred service in an inpatient and outpatient setting, to a varied patient population. Working with other disciplines, the department performs cardiac and respiratory investigations to assist in diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions. There is the possibility of new service developments in the future.

The department is primarily a non-invasive department at present. Our Respiratory investigations include full lung function tests with spirometry, gas transfer, lung volumes using both helium dilution and body plethysmography. The equipment used is Vyaire MasterScreen with Sentry Suite software; Reversibility studies are also performed if indicated, together with six minute walk tests.

We have a very strong team in the Cardio/Respiratory department at the Queen Elizabeth hospital (about 19 of us). We are all proud of how well we all work together, and we also have a good social network.

Also there is hospital accommodation (subject to availability) and there is plenty of rental accommodation in the area, which is competitively priced. A recruitment incentive will be offered to the successful candidate if there are relocation expenses.

Previous candidates need not apply.

Please note due to high volume of applications for some posts, this post may close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.
