About our exciting Opportunity:
Fair Ways is looking for a Residential Support Worker based in our 5 bedded Residential Children’s Home in the Swanwick area of Southampton. Working as a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will report to an experienced management team whilst mentoring and educating children and young people who can display challenging behaviour. This role is offered on a full time/permanent basis, working on a rolling shift pattern. This involves working a 2-day period (including sleep-ins and being on-call) followed by 4 days off work!
All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.
About our specialist service:
Manor Farm Cottage is an Ofsted registered independent children’s home offering residential care for children & young people aged 7-18 years with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The home offers a model of care and education based on PACE and the House Model of Parenting, which is designed to provide an enriching and positive environment. The residential home is set in a semi-rural location in South Hampshire which is within commutable distance As part of our team, you will deliver the highest standards of care, protection and support to Children and Young People by facilitating their physical and psychological development. This position focuses on developing independent life skills within a therapeutic care environment.
Basic Job Responsibilities:
Successful applicants could be involved in any or all of the following:
- Supervising and interacting with the children and young people and managing complex behaviour;
- Key working (positive role modelling and guiding);
- Recording and reporting appropriately using the correct systems to escalate safeguarding concerns;
- Planning the week ahead with the team, being a reflective practitioner ensuring a therapeutic community throughout the home and staff team alike.
- Attending training and meetings, including interaction with the wider team.
- Staff could be involved in a range of activities which our children enjoy, this may include swimming, music, camping, rock climbing, horse riding, canoeing and day trips to local centres.
Applicants will ideally possess the following personal skills:
- Experience in this field of work is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- We ask that you are passionate about working with children and keeping them safe, have an understanding on some therapeutic approaches and can make a house feel like a home.
- You should be methodical, reliable, and proactive, possess good communication skills, can work as part of a team and have a positive attitude.
- You will need to be enthusiastic and passionate about making a real difference and happy to commit to the work that needs to happen to support this.
