Residential Support Worker | £11 P/H | Devon
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable individual who is passionate about providing excellent social support and the delivery of clean safe care.
This is a temporary position, with the possibility of an ongoing contract subject to your performance, making this a particularly exciting opportunity for applicants.
Job Purpose including main duties and responsibilities:
To provide a safe, caring, stimulating and secure environment for children and young people deemed by the Courts to need to be secured for criminal justice reasons or because they are a risk to themselves or others.
To comply with statutory requirements for Secure Units and Children's Homes.
To assist in devising care and training plans.
To carry out assessments and provide reports for reviews and secure criteria meetings.
To take lead responsibility in overseeing the care, welfare and health of children and young people.
To ensure that their rights are upheld.
To promote and maintain contact with parents, carers and professionals involved with the young person including Education, the YJB and the placing authority.
To undertake specific work including victim awareness, crime reduction, anger management, inter-personal relationships, social skills, self esteem and others with individuals and groups.
To be aware of, and promote the needs and values of minority and ethnic groups.
To minimise through risk assessments, self harm procedures and physical interventions, the effects of violent and aggressive behaviours to self or others by children and young people.
To enable those admitted to understand their rights and responsibilities, the expectations and restrictions placed upon them and the reasons for them.
To operate and promote clear communications within the Unit and with external partners.
To advocate for the young person and ensure that their wishes are heard and taken into account.
To work towards a successful transition from secure to an open setting.
