They aim to provide an integrated experience of Care and Education for young people aged between 16-21 (16 - 18 on admission), who have experienced trauma or Attachment Disorder in their lives as a result of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect. Due to this they are no longer able to live with their birth family, have experienced multiple placement breakdowns, exhausted all other facilities and require specialist help to move forward in their lives.
You will be there to provide emotional support, general guidance, help with cooking, accompanying them to any health or court appointments etc. Enable residents to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life. A full induction will be given which includes all mandatory training.
The shifts are 24 hours from noon to noon, with 11pm - 8am being sleep in, minimum of 2 shifts a week but you can take on more if you like. There are about 3-4 bedrooms in the communal home, each resident with their own bedroom with their own key which only they have access to. Equally as a support worker you will have your own room with lockable access for the sleep-in period within the shift.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
You must have previous experience of working with young adults. You will be dedicated and passionate about helping people and have a real interest in improving the lives of others. Also, providing privacy, dignity, choice and encourage independence. Whilst supporting and maintaining a person-centred environment and promoting self-esteem. DBS on Update Service is an advantage as you are able to start much quicker
