Residential Support Worker

Posted 6 February by Witherslack Group Featured

As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll have a challenging but fulfilling job. Working with vulnerable young people in our children’s homes, you’ll provide them with personalised care and create a calm, safe living environment. That involves planning social and leisure activities, giving counselling and escorting children on activities, but most importantly creating a home!

Experience isn’t essential, but you must have the ability to build a rapport with young people. In many cases, our residents’ behaviour can be difficult or challenging. That means you’ve got to be very patient, calm and resilient. You should also be ready to study for a Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce (if you don’t have this already). In the meantime, we’ll give you outstanding training to help you do your best. In return you’ll need to be happy to work flexible hours, including some sleep-in duties and to have a full UK driving licence.

This is a detached house situated within its own gardens in Low Bentham, Lancaster. The home is a specialised 52 week children’s home that offers high quality options and outcomes for young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviours. Our staff team are dedicated and experienced and our young people live in a warm, friendly, familiar environment with a high ratio of staff. The home can accommodate up to eight young people ranging in age, both male and female. We provide a stable, holistic and nurturing home environment for our young people.
