Sandcastle Care Ltd provides therapeutic residential care for children and young people and are looking to recruit committed individuals to join our growing team.

You will provide day to day care and support to young people who may present with challenging behaviours, emotional and social difficulties. Working within a supportive therapeutic environment you will be part of a team dedicated to caring for young people with compassion and a commitment to positive relationships.
We are currently recruiting for the following position:
Practitioner (Residential Childcare)
CASUAL HOURS - Kendal area
Hourly rate: £7.52 - £8.76
Sleep in Allowance: £40 per night
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people in our care.
Promote the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment and immediately report any unsafe practices, conditions or concerns.
Assist in the implementation of care and placement plans, taking into account the views of the young person.
Contribute to placement planning, participate in reviews and other meetings and write and edit reports when required.
Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities including the delivery of direct work.
Ensure ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day to day practice, and be able to evidence achievements using outcomes measuring tools where appropriate.
Promote young people’s participation, to ensure young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities of the home.
Relate to and engage young people who display challenging behaviour and utilise a variety of behaviour management strategies.
Assist young people to identify unsafe, dangerous, harmful and abusive situations, individuals and groups.
Provide a caring and supportive environment for children and young people that respects and affirms their racial, cultural and religious identity and lifestyle.
Ensure the rights and needs of children and young people are met as fully as possible whether spiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural or social.
Ensure an open culture is created so that children and young people feel they can complain and that they are listened to.
Be aware of relevant information that requires daily attention and ensure that all information is recorded accurately and legibly and communicated appropriately.
Attend and participate in supervision and staff meetings as required by governing regulations.
Work as part of a multi- disciplinary team both within the home and with external agencies.
Support the team in assessing, defining issues and identifying solutions to challenges presented.
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, professionals, children and families.
Work within, and ensure effective delivery of the policies and procedures of the home and the organisation.
Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practices, homes procedures, company policies and children’s regulations.
At all times promote and ensure anti discriminatory practice.
Undertake all relevant training as required by governing regulation, guidance and the Company.
Co-operate with the Company in complying with the Health and Safety requirements and Company policies.
Acquaint yourself with the Fire, Health and Safety Procedures at your place of work and report any unsafe practices and conditions.
The post holder may be reasonably expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility and experience.

- Sleeping in duties and shift work, including evenings and weekends on a rota system.
- Full Driving Licence is preferred but not essential.
