Residential Support Worker - Doncaster Deaf Services

We are looking for someone who is motivated and enthusiastic to join our team at the home where they provide residential care for young adults between the ages of 18 to 40 who are either profoundly Deaf, have significant hearing loss and/or complex needs that might include Autism, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.
The home is a 3-bed farmhouse located in a rural location with two flats on site. Having access to a vehicle is advised due to the location of the residence.
Residents who are deaf or hard of hearing often cope with communication difficulties in everyday life situations. Where there is deafness, challenges exist for both the resident and the support worker. You will overcome this by the training, support and mentoring management will give you.

Must be over 18 or over
Must hold a driving licence
Fluent BSL (British Sign Language) or willing to learn

No day is the same but you will:-

- Provide support and care to each individual
- Provide encouragement when getting ready for school
- Travel with the residents (Use of Company Car)
- Complete care Planning
- Complete Meal Planning
- Organise and facilitate social activities (outside of school)
- Maintain the home (cleaning, laundry and shopping etc.)
- Maintain home management
- Liaise with external stakeholders and our own multi-disciplinary team

Salary ranges
Inexperienced staff = £8.00
Post probation (With BSL1) = £8.15
Experienced (with BSL2 OR QCF3) = £8.40
Qualified (with BSL2 AND QCF3) = £8.65
Sleep In rate £32 (subject to review)

Shift pattern – Typical 2-week Rota
Monday – Early to Late shift 9am - 11pm - Sleep – 11pm - 9am
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday – Day off
Thursday - Early to Late shift 9am - 11pm- Sleep - 11pm - 9am
Friday – Day off
Saturday – Day off
Sunday – Day off
Monday – Day off
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday - Early to Late shift 8am - 10pm
Thursday – Day off
Friday – Day off
Saturday – Day off
Sunday – Day off

- This is an example of a 2-week Rota and will not be the actual Rota given to yourself. All staff have different Rota’s.
- You will receive in advance a 5-week Rota so you will always know what the expected working hours will be.
- You would work 1 or 2 weekends in 5 weeks.
