To ensure a ‘consistent’ framework and approach to the management of
pupils’ challenging behaviour in the unit and school settings.
To ensure the maintenance of high standards of care of the environment
in which they work.
To provide high standards of general care to all pupils in the basic daily
routines and in their physical, mental and spiritual health.
To take on the role of a ‘Good Parent’ in relation to teachers and
relevant external professionals in their contact with young people.
To formulate and implement individual Behaviour Support Plans for
pupils in unit/school as required.
To act as keyworker to a number of young people as discussed and
agreed with the unit manager, dependent upon the needs of the young
person and the skills/abilities of the worker.
To prepare for and present reports on the care plan in line with the
review system within the project.
To liaise on a regular weekly basis with the class tutor on each ‘key’
pupil, to monitor their progress in class.
To arrange for ‘key’ pupils to choose an individual activity in the local
community, which they attend on a weekly basis.
