Residential Project Worker in Ilford

 To ensure a ‘consistent’ framework and approach to the management of
pupils’ challenging behaviour in the unit and school settings.
 To ensure the maintenance of high standards of care of the environment
in which they work.

 To provide high standards of general care to all pupils in the basic daily
routines and in their physical, mental and spiritual health.
 To take on the role of a ‘Good Parent’ in relation to teachers and
relevant external professionals in their contact with young people.
 To formulate and implement individual Behaviour Support Plans for
pupils in unit/school as required.
 To act as keyworker to a number of young people as discussed and
agreed with the unit manager, dependent upon the needs of the young
person and the skills/abilities of the worker.
 To prepare for and present reports on the care plan in line with the
review system within the project.
 To liaise on a regular weekly basis with the class tutor on each ‘key’
pupil, to monitor their progress in class.
 To arrange for ‘key’ pupils to choose an individual activity in the local
community, which they attend on a weekly basis.
 To liaise on a regular weekly basis with parents/carers of their ‘key’
pupils to ensure they are aware of their child’s progress in the
 To play a lead role in the formulation of a care plan based on an
assessment of needs of individual pupils.
 To review and discuss with team members on a regular basis at team
meetings the care plan/priorities of ‘key’ pupils.
 To ensure that accurate/detailed records are kept and maintained on
each pupil in line with the policy and practice
 To adopt, and assist others to adopt, an understanding and realistic
attitude to the problems exhibited by pupils within the unit.
 To ensure that all pupils establish and maintain regular contact with
their family/carers.
 To contribute to the establishment and maintenance of effective teams,
through discussion at team meetings/supervision training days.
 To work in ‘partnership’ with pupils/carers and involving them in all
aspects of their ‘PSHME’ and ‘individual education’ plans, ensuring their
views are included.
 To ensure an awareness and understanding of a range of 
policy statements, including Behaviour Management, and to
review/discuss these on a regular basis in supervision/team meetings.
To ensure child protection issues are appropriately recorded and handed
over to the appropriate manager, in line with High Close School’s
Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy and procedures.
 To liaise regularly with the local authority and other agencies involved
ensuring that they are aware of progress/problems of pupils.
 To create a pleasant and stimulating living environment for pupils.
 To undertake sleeping-in duties as required in the unit.
