There is a separate education/games room which includes a computer and separate seating and TV area with games console. The staff office is based downstairs which includes an additional staff bedroom.
The home is well furnished and equipped with the things that would be found within a standard family environment. This includes good quality furnishings, a television and audio equipment. The home has a wide range of games, toys, Xbox console and DVD’s for young people to access.
The garden is large and spacious with room to run around and play sport. Part of the garden has been fenced off to an area for horticultural development.
The young people are allowed to decorate their bedroom when they arrive and will be supported to personalise it. The young people’s rooms are well equipped and each young person has a TV/DVD player and desk for home study
Salary & Benefits
The home provide 3 shadow shifts working alongside an experienced member of staff, this helps Residential care workers build relationships within the home and learn the structure of the home also this helps to find their strengths and weaknesses. The manager also holds regular supervision’s one to one with staff
The home also provides full funding for NVQ3 in Children and young people to progress within their career
The home employs a full clinical team overseen by a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Lead.

Example of shifts
Working 10-shifts per month on average 24.5 hours
8.00am-11pm and sleep attached -7.30am-8.30am
1 full weekend off and one split weekend off on average depending on staffing levels
All shifts are shared out equally between the team
Must be 21 years old or above

Types of skills required and duties to accept
These can be varied but they are all centred on the young people and it can include;
- Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning etc)
- Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
- Meeting the physical, emotional, behavioral, cultural and educational needs of young people
- Acting as a role model and demonstrating appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems
- Helping young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behavior and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
- Ensuring that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
