Research Technician - Molecular Pathology

The Requirements of the Research Technician:

  • Minimum of 3 years sectioning experience with a variety of clinical tissue types in a high throughput pathology laboratory
  • Experience working with SHE policies and procedures
  • Educated to BSc degree or equivalent in a bioscience discipline or equivalent experience
  • Awareness of the UK Human Tissue Act
  • Background in the pharmaceutical industry and the drug development process is desirable
  • Experience with slide scanning and image analysis is desirable
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable with a clear attention to detail
  • Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team members
  • To be flexible with working hours when required to deliver the service required to my client’s customers
  • Ability to communicate with people of all levels, exercising respect always
  • Computer literate: articulate, confident and competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with experience of using databases and presenting data using standard techniques e.g. spreadsheets, computerised reports etc

The Role of the Research Technician:

  • Reporting directly to the Senior Laboratory Manager you will be responsible for executing routine preclinical and clinical FFPE tissue sectioning to a routinely high quality and fast turnaround
  • Operate and adhere to Good Clinical Practice for Laboratories
  • Execute routine H&E staining
  • Execute high quality digital pathology scanning of IHC and H&E tissue sections and cell pellets through Leica Digital Pathology Systems
  • Maintenance of Xenograft tissue bank
  • Maintenance of routine pathology equipment
  • Support of my client’s scientists in routine tissue culture tasks and preparation of cell pellet controls
  • Ensure own work is compliant with Safety, Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal standards and external regulations
