A multi-disciplinary organisation based in Hillsborough, involved in high technology research and development, diagnostic and analytical testing.

Your new role
You will deliver key tasks within a government commissioned research project investigating antimicrobial use (AMU) in livestock production systems in Northern Ireland. The project will source and analyse from multiple routes livestock antibiotic use and sales data within Northern Ireland, develop reports and peer reviewed publications. You will also collaborate with project partners on other work packages relating to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and socio-economic aspects of AMU/AMR. You may be required to assist within the wider animal health and welfare research programme.

  • Sourcing, collating and analysing AMU data related to livestock systems in Northern Ireland through collaboration with stakeholders, veterinary software and supply organisations and producer surveys. This includes - study design and planning, developing appropriate data and partnership agreements, statistical analysis and report/paper writing.
  • Ensuring that project milestones are met and contributing to project planning meetings
  • Liaison with task leads and project partners
  • Liaison with external data suppliers and stakeholders, as well as with statisticians analysing data within the project
  • Data analysis, preparation of reports (for project meetings, seminars and conferences) and preparation of refereed papers targeting high-quality journals
  • Presentation of the project to a range of audiences


What you'll need to succeed

  • Academic qualifications at PhD level in animal, veterinary or agricultural science or related field (or intending to submit PhD for examination within 3 months)
  • Experience in designing experiments and project management
  • Extensive experience in data handling and data analysis is considered a merit
  • Excellent skills in written communication of research results as evidenced by publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals and/or conference proceedings
