Research & Development Engineer - Construction

As part of continuing growth, an excellent position has arisen for either an experienced Research & Development Engineer, or suitable Design Engineer from a sheet metal, steel manufacture or similar background, to join a successful UK Technical / R&D Team of a highly reputable and industry leading manufacturer who deliver high quality products and services to the major players within the Construction industry.

  • £28K - £32K DOE
  • 25 Days Holiday (plus statutory)

As the successful Research and Development Engineer you will be A welcomed new resource to the UK Technical Team responsible for increasing product and development activities and provide strong customer technical support.

Key duties:

  • Management of multi-faceted projects - research and development (new systems, and applications) new products (NPI), Product Certification and some Legislative
  • Engineering analysis and calculations
  • Development of new products
  • Provide product technical support to customers and company sales staff
  • Provide engineering support to company production department
  • Creation of 2D and 3D production and marketing drawings as required


The ideal Research and Development Engineer will be an ambitious, and self-motivated Research & Development Engineer, or suitable Design Engineer from a sheet metal, steel manufacture or similar background with:

  • Product design and/or research and development and customer service experience within the construction or building industry
  • Design experience in structural or mechanical engineering timber, steel or masonry
  • An engineering discipline degree (e.g. structural or mechanical engineering) - desirable
  • Good project management and problem solving skills
  • An innovative and creative approach to product development
  • Excellent organisation skills and able to communicate at all organisational levels
  • Good IT skills (AutoCAD and Inventor - advantageous)
  • Ability to to work well under pressure, in a logical manner to strict deadlines
