Reporter - Maternity Cover

Are you an experienced Reporter with a passion for journalism and politics? Our reputable B2B publishing client is looking for a motivated Reporter to write both news and analysis for their title.

The initial role will be from January 2018 - November 2018 to cover a period of maternity leave, however the role may lead to other opportunities within the business.

You will be building relationships and securing exclusives from key figures in local government.

Key Responsibilities of the Reporter:

  • Reporting on the fast-paced local government world

  • Leading investigations

  • Passion for journalism

  • Engaging with leading figures in and around local government

  • Strong writing and analytical skills

  • Ability to maintain reporting beat, potentially including council finance, local economic growth and devolution

Skills and Experience Required for the Reporter:

  • Graduate journalism qualification preferred, as is shorthand

  • Experience of work on trade title preferred

  • A portfolio showing how you have come up with ideas for journalistic investigations and undertaken them

  • Proven ability to produce high quality, accurate work to detailed deadlines

  • Strong knowledge of public sector, especially councils
