You will be paid £11.44 plus 14% annual leave allowance working casual hours across Surrey schools and other settings. This is a bank (zero hours) contract.

Do you have experience working with children and/or young people?

Do you enjoy interacting with children and/or young people?

Do you have a strong commitment to improving the educational achievement and life chances of children and young people from minority language communities?

Are you a first language speaker of one of the above languages, and do you have life experience within the culture or society of these languages?

As a Bilingual Support Worker employed on a bank staff basis (zero contract hours) you will work for the REMA service (Race Equality & Minority Achievement) when required, to assist in improving outcomes for children and young people from minority language communities. You will assist schools in Surrey and REMA teachers in identifying the pupils’ language and learning needs and in communicating between schools and parents. If required, you will provide bilingual support for specified bilingual pupils and may be required to support with interpreting and/or translation or to conduct joint home visits and to contribute to out of school activities.

You will be a good communicator with the ability to work with children, with parents and with colleagues and other professionals. You will also have a commitment to personal and professional self-development.
