The service provides supported living to seven people we support who require a dedicated approach to person centered support - something we are passionate about here at Mencap. As a Relief Support Worker, you will be helping others in their daily routines, with activities like shopping, personal care and medication, managing their tenancy, encouraging healthy eating and accessing the community .Hobbies are a huge part of the lives of the people we support and you will be required to assist the people we support during a number of activities. You will support them in organising activities and accessing the community, to socialise and for leisure so you can expect no two days to be the same!
This role has a unique set of challenges, but our award winning training and progression opportunities will ensure that you are the best Support Worker that you can be, whether you have lots experience or are just starting out in your career.
As a Relief Support Worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you will be required to work a variety of different shifts including mornings, days, evenings and waking nights, which are essential to the service. The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you'll have your own commitments and we will try to factor this into our rotas.
We are looking for individuals who are patient and adaptable, with a real "Can-do" attitude, good administration and record keeping skills and proactive in their approach to supporting others. Being a support worker isn't just about making the day to day life easier, it's about improving the lives of these individuals, so they can live the life that they choose and certainly deserve. Helping the people we support achieve their goals is one of the most rewarding parts of being a support worker and we will support you with award winning training throughout your career with us.
