We are looking for compassionate and caring individuals to join our team of Relief Support Workers to support adults with a learning disability at our Mencap service in Thetford.
This service has 4 units that provide support for both Males and Females who have various different needs and interests. Here you will find that the people that we support are very different and you will quickly discover that each of the people that we support are individuals with an entirely different set of great qualities, interests and passions. The support that you provide will be tailored to the needs and preferences of the individual and you will need to be really creative in how you approach this fantastically rewarding, and sometimes challenging role.
We would like someone who is comfortable with supporting with personal care, and can ensure respect and maintained dignity throughout.
As a relief support worker you can you choose your days of work, however, we expect you to be available to work at least 3 days across the week, this could be over the weekend or throughout the week and there is also an opportunity to do night shifts if day shifts are not for you.
About the people you will be supporting
You will be supporting a mixture of males and females. All of the people have different likes, so would like an all-round support worker who will enjoy part taking a range of activates with the people you will be supporting.
Some of the activities they enjoy are going out in the community, doing jigsaws, listening to music, cinema and theatre trips, watching films and sport on the TV…. As well as going out to Zumba and cooking and baking up some lovely treats
We want our new support worker to be clean and tidy as we will need help to keep our home clean. We also require someone that will enjoy helping us to prepare meals, access the community and can support us with counting our money.
We want applicants to be flexible and to confidently be able to meet their needs. They must also be able to work a variety of shift patterns including weekends. A willingness to work extra if required during staff sickness and holidays will be a bonus.
