Relief Support Worker - Blaenau Gwent

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative Relief Support Worker to join our passionate team to cover two services in Blaenau Gwent. You would be joining a team of truly caring and dedicated Support Workers that always strive to support people as best they can.

The services provides support to people to live independently and to maintain their tenancies. This support ranges from support with shopping, community activities, health appointments and all house hold tasks. Another service that you would cover is a Community Support Service which supports people in a day service setting with all life skills, community activities supporting with any new opportunities that could arise and be given to people and to support people to make their own choices and enable independence.

We operate 7 days per week 24/7 on the service needs so a sleep in is essential.

This role is highly varied and no two days are ever the same.

You will need to have the ability to complete paperwork and to work to deadlines and within a constantly changing environment.

A FULL driver's license with the willingness to take out business insurance & to travel within the whole of the Blaenau Gwent County borough is essential to be considered for this position.

We are looking for someone who would be willing to cover sickness and holidays whilst also taking on any hours where the service is growing. The great thing about being a Relief Support Worker is that you can choose the hours you would like and if you are busy then you are not obliged to work any hours.

Experience in social care, with learning disability, learning difficulties or mental health is an advantage but in no way is essential. You must be able to demonstrate a real commitment to Mencap and the people we support.
