An experienced regulatory manager for a leading chemicals organisation is urgently ensure and maintain product compliance and provide Regulatory knowledge, leadership and support to the strategic business units managing a team of three and working in collaboration with the management team and external consultants, the successful candidate will be based within the regulatory division of the business and take a lead with active substance approval and product authorisation under the European Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR). The job holder will manage a wide portfolio of primarily biocidal products, delivering critical growth projects.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Line manage a team of three staff members
  • Provide guidance and develop regulatory strategies for the business according to the BPR and other associated global notification systems
  • Take a key role in the delivery of BPR services including preparing, implementing, communicating, and coordinating regulatory projects, dossiers and technical approvals with support from the technical and regulatory teams
  • Ensure that authorisation projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Oversee the creation of safety data sheets
  • Develop and maintain regulatory knowledge of Global, European and National biocide and pesticides regulations
  • Share practical knowledge within the company, encouraging cross-departmental communication
  • Communicate effectively with national and European agencies
  • Represent the company at industry groups and regulatory agency meetings

Person specification and qualifications

  • University degree in a scientific discipline
  • Commercial experience gained from industry, regulators and/or environmental consultancies including experience of people management
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the BPR including a proven track record of successfully submitting active substance approvals and biocidal product authorisations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated, organised and proactive
  • Able to think creatively and use initiative to overcome problems
  • Confident in decision making and taking ownership of tasks

  • Able to recognise opportunities and implement improvements to create efficiencies
