A rapidly expanding Fin-Tech business based near Sevenoaks seek a qualified, Regulatory Lawyer. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Regulatory Lawyer will:

  • Provide a business friendly and approachable service to the business teams whilst maintaining the necessary independence from these same teams
  • Become a trusted adviser to the business by ensuring that commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice is provided in a cost-effective manner to the business
  • Act as the first point of call for the business for trouble shooting and queries.
  • Draft, negotiate and execute on a wide variety of transactional documents
  • Manage the due diligence and contract approval process of third party vendors, including any drafting of clauses
  • Maintain and manage all Legal information, data and records within Legal to ensure information is readily accessible, searchable and up-to-date
  • Provide Legal assistance to any compliance sign off for marketing materials (email, social media, digital, PR, Blog, etc.) prior to their publication and provide feedback to the Marketing team
  • Assist the CCO with the application, maintenance and evaluation of the company’s Regulatory Business Plan, and any of the company policies as necessary
  • Prepare monthly Legal reports as necessary
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of forthcoming Legal changes relevant to the business and advise on the practical impact of it
  • Provide Legal input into any review of operational processes and procedures as required
  • Make decisions and act on your own initiative
  • Keep up to date with the Company’s products

Experience

  • Have 2-3 years post qualification experience
  • Previous in house Legal experience either within a financial services organisation or consumer finance environment
  • Dealing with regulators
  • Knowledge/understanding of the CCA - Consumer Credit Act
  • Knowledge and experience of TCF principles and practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of working in an FCA regulated environment
  • Knowledge of relevant sections of FCA Handbook and its impact
