The job involves looking after a 26 year old male whos main condition is cerebral palsy. He requires assistance in all aspects of daily living and uses an electric wheel chair . He is a very friendly happy young man who loves to go out to the cinema, day trips, loves to spend time on the beach among doing other things. He is currently working with other members of the local multi disciplinary team to learn to use an eye gaze communication computer system so there are many different aspects to the job. He has a very good sense of humour and is a joy to be around.
He does have medical needs and requires regular medication, night time bi pap therapy, enteral nutrition through a jejunostomy and more but please do not let this put you off . We are looking for someone who has a qualification that allows them to carry out these tasks once they have been trained by us, the most important thing to us and him is to find someone who has a good sense of humour, is active, and can use there initiative as well as following our care plans, protocols and procedures. You would need to be confident in your skills and abilities and not be afraid to ask questions. There will be one person on shift in the day but there will always be someone else around for support during the day and a support worker for the full shift at night. He lives in a cottage attached to his parents house which is fully adapted to meet his needs and health and safety requirements .
The team we have at the moment are fantastic, very supportive of each other and happy to help anyone new who joins our team.
We are looking for a full time person to work day shifts and also bank staff prepared to work days and nights the hours are 07:00-19:00hrs we do pay competitive rates for this type of position, holiday pay and pension scheme.
