Registered Manager - Cumbria

Main Purpose of Post:

To be responsible for shaping and delivering the residential home’s Statement of Purpose and managing a team to achieve the same.

The expectation of the Registered Manager:

  • !  You must ensure children’s safety and well-being is appropriately protected at all times (including those who may go missing or may be at risk of harm, including exploitation, neglect, abuse, self-harm, bullying and radicalisation).

  • !  The help, care and support that you provide will be of a very high standard.

  • !  You are able to inspire and lead a team of staff to deliver high quality care,

    which will meet the specific needs of each individual child placed in the home

    as stated in your statement of purpose.

  • !  Your leadership and management will result in positive experiences and

    progress for children.

  • !  You will actively promote tolerance, equality and diversity, and challenge any

    discriminatory behaviours.

  • !  You have a good understanding of all aspects of practice that relate to

    managing a children’s home.

  • !  You have a good understanding of any relevant, up-to-date practice models,

    including research and innovative practice, which compliment the ATC model

    which you will use to underpin the operation of the home.

  • !  You have a thorough knowledge of the legislation and guidance that applies

    to children’s homes.

  • !  You have a thorough knowledge of Ofsted’s policies and procedures,

    including guidance on the children’s homes inspection framework.



 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To manage a Residential Home and ensure the efficient operation of the service in accordance with the relevant legislation1, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose for the home.

  • To produce a development plan for the service that ensures the delivery of high quality, clinically informed practice.

  • To work with other managers to ensure that all staff work together and with others towards meeting the emotional and physical needs of the children and planning for positive outcomes.

  • To support staff to achieve the highest and level of care for the children placed within the home.

  • To co-ordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions of the home and evaluate standards of performance, in line with Regulations 44 and 45.

  • To promote appropriate and therapeutical relationships between staff and young people and their families, promoting the children’s involvement and participation in the day- to-day life of the Home.

  • To assist in and supervise the continual assessment of the needs of the children and to identify and prepare specific development plans to ensure the most appropriate programs for the children.

  • To be involved in recruitment of staff including vetting, interviewing and inducting new employees.

  • To contribute to a comprehensive staff training and development programme including our Treatment Centre’s Diploma to ensure the team has the necessary skills and levels of expertise to meet the needs of the children.
