The Company

My client is looking to recruit a registered home manager to work on a permanent basis in their children’s residential home in the Shropshire area. The purpose of the role is to hold legal responsibility and provide leadership and management of the home overseeing and ensuring the delivery of high quality therapeutic care.

The Role

  • To communicate with staff teams effectively, about regulatory requirements, developing their understanding to support the homes delivery of high quality care and to lead and co-ordinate the development, implementation and delivery of the young person’s Quality of Life Plan across the integrated services; communicating and setting goals, supporting practice development and ensuring progress is monitored effectively.
  • To communicate effectively with others about a child’s needs as identified in the Quality of Life plan to other professionals, leading the care process where relevant and to monitor actively all recording, monitoring and reporting systems are utilised correctly and to the highest standard.

  • Provide regular feedback, support and direction to staff teams.

  • Co-ordinate the training and lead, the formal professional development of staff teams ensuring that learning is applied in the home and reflected upon in supervisions and to oversee and monitor that all domestic duties in the home are carried to the highest possible standard, role modelling this standard to others and challenging poor practice.

  • To lead the strategic development of all aspects of the home, including a therapeutic homely environment

  • To monitor and oversee the vigilance of the staff teams in keeping to risk management plans and agreed levels of supervision of young people.

The ideal candidate will be/have:

  • Thorough knowledge of child development issues and the pathology of abused young people.

  • Understanding of oppression and ability to demonstrate and promote anti-discriminatory practice.

  • Able to support, manage and develop staff

  • Able to work within agreed systems and demonstrate problem solving skills

  • Good organisational skills and a high standard of written work.

  • Able to communicate effectively and promote effective relationships with a range of professionals and young people.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Professional social work qualification: DipSW CQSW or equivalent or Level 5 Diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in residential care or a directly related field, at least two of these must be at management level.

  • Experience of assessment, care planning, and review.

  • Willing to work unsocial hours, flexible and self-motivated.

  • Full driving licence.

  • Good physical and mental health (the appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report)
