Children’s Ward, Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary

GRADE: Band 5

SALARY: £23,113 to £29,905 pro-rata

HOURS: 29hpw


Description of Role:

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Registered Children’s Nurse who will be able to work within the multi-disciplinary team of an acute paediatric ward within a District General hospital, which looks after sick children under sixteen.

The successful applicants will work between the acute ward, Paediatric short stay assessment unit and children’s outpatient department. The post holder may also be expected to work within the neonatal unit when required. The post holder will be required to be flexible with the hours in which they will be able to work and will be expected to work shifts.

The children’s ward has been involved in the Maternity and children’s quality improvement collaborative (MCQIC) programme and you will be required to participate in the ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the unit.

The post holder will possess a nursing qualification and will be expected to participate in further education and training to enhance personal and professional development within the speciality.

The post holder will be expected to participate in ongoing development within the unit. The post holder should have an understanding of multi- agency working and should have knowledge of local child protection guidelines and policies.

The post holder will be expected to work shifts e.g. early shifts, late shifts, night shifts and twilight shifts when required.
