Regional Contractor Manager - Home based (South West)

We are looking for a Regional Contractor Manager for a national insurance repair industry client in the South West to survey & scope repair works on domestic properties as well as contract managing the works and contractors carrying out the repairs (fire, & flood damage etc.). The successful Regional Surveyor / Contracts Manager will cover a geographical patch across the South West (and South Wales). This is a permanent home based position with an excellent package including company car or generous car allowance.

As Regional Contractor Manager you will be responsible for a network of sub-contractors carrying out carrying out the repairs (fire, escape of water & flood damage etc.) to domestic & commercial properties; ensuring SLA’s are met, performance management and dealing with any complaints etc.

The successful Regional Contractor Manager will cover a geographical patch which will include Gloucester, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset so you must be prepared to travel. We will welcome applicants from anywhere within this region, but ideal locations to reside for this role would be somewhere between Bristol & Bath.

Job role and responsibilities

Reporting into the Operations Director the Regional Contractor Manager will have direct responsibility for the following;

  • Actively managing the network of contractors & the works they are carrying out

  • Ensuring quality of works carried out by sub-contractors

  • Ensuring SLA’s are within target

  • Dealing with variations and supplier queries

  • Agreeing scopes and sometimes surveying & scoping works for properties damaged by insured perils

  • Dealing with any variations, complaints and quality of works issues ensuring these are kept to a minimum

What skills/experience will you need?

For this role the successful Regional Contractor Manager role will need to have the following skills/experience:

  • Building surveying and scoping / estimating experience

  • Experience having worked for a contractor or claims management company overseeing or carrying out domestic property repairs

  • Some experience working in the insurance repairs industry would be an advantage (but is not necessarily essential as long as you have domestic property experience)

  • Experience in overseeing contractors / sub-contractors in the field carrying out repairs is essential

  • Excellent customer service background and experience in dealing with complaints

  • Solid maintenance/construction industry experience

  • Ideally a relevant professional qualification

  • Good understanding of H&S, CDM and the Party Wall Act etc.

Package details

In addition to the salary (£35k- £38k depending upon experience) the Regional Contractor Manager will receive a very generous car allowance and other company benefits.
