Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Specialist Refugee Resettlement Support Worker, for a community-based outreach service in the borough of Newham. This role is based in a small team which provides intensive resettlement and integration support to Afghanistan Refugee Families. The purpose of this position is to work in partnership with families and other agencies to undertake assessments to identify families' strengths as well as potential barriers to integration with local community and steps to overcome them.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Cover is required for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

This role will involve frontline outreach work in the community, some working from home and some working from the office base in Ilford.

In this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for providing and co-ordinating intensive and structured support and intervention to families.
  • Take a whole family approach to assess need and plan support with families in their homes and the wider community
  • Produce comprehensive and high quality risk assessments and risk management plans with the input of families and external agencies where necessary.
  • Minimise risk to families and children by identifying, reporting and following up any safeguarding concerns.
  • Work with a team of professionals and partner organisations to achieve sustainable outcomes for children, families and local communities
  • Promote social and cultural inclusion for families at all times through participation at service level and within the local and wider community.

To apply for this role, you must;

  • Be able to demonstrate your experience of working with a team of professionals and partner organisations to achieve sustainable outcomes for children, families and local communities
  • Have experience and an understanding of working with trauma-informed approach
  • Have an understanding of impact of forced migration on individuals
  • Be proactive and look to create new initiatives in your work - lots of the work is built on forming good relationships with other agencies and being kept in the loop about new opportunities
  • Experience of being creative when working with families
  • Ideally be versed in Daro, Pasto or Arabic due to the client group
